“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me”
Matthew 25:40
Recently, The Lord put something on my heart. He showed me how He wanted me to raise money and help our military and veteran families in need. This has been and continues to be a huge labor of love for me, out of obedience to God.
Upon doing some research, I found out that too many of our military families are barely getting by! Last year alone, they redeemed food stamps at twice the civilian rate! Many rely on food stamps, soup kitchens, food banks and charities to make ends meet! This to me, is an outrage! How can we allow this to be the standard for the very people who risk (and give) life and limb to keep us free?
What started as a “message” from God has now turned into a project called “From Our Hearts To Yours” or FOHTY.
I began by writing a song, obviously called “From Our Hearts To Yours”, which is a song of gratitude to the brave men and women who serve our great nation. As I sat down to write the song, I thought of my nephew Patrick who is serving in Afghanistan, and how hard it was for him to say goodbye to his Mom and Dad after being on leave, and there was the first line of the song…”as a son says goodbye, in the early morning light, somewhere a mother leaves her child with tears in her eyes”. The song continues with the mantra of “Thank You for keeping us free… for the blood that was shed in defense of our liberty….from our hearts to yours, we thank you”.
After writing and recording the song, I set out to create a foundation and/or work with existing foundations, such as Wounded Warriors, USO, Operation Homefront and others to give proceeds from the sales of the song and concert events to them in order to help our military and veteran families in need.
This is where Matthew 25:40 is important. Jesus said to his followers, “when I was hungry, you fed me. When I was thirsty you gave me drink. When I was a stranger, you invited me in. When I was sick, you looked after me and when I was in prison, you visited me”. His followers said “Lord, when did we do those things for you”? And the Christ answered “truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me“.
I ask you to please, prayerfully consider purchasing my song “From Our Hearts To Yours”, as well as donating your time or money any one of the excellent charities that help our military and veteran families in need. For whatever you for them, you are doing for HIM.
May God bless you always,
Kimbirly
