Kris Pierowich BIO:
Kris was bitten by the music bug when he was 10 years old. While attending the Church festival at his local Polish/Catholic parish, he got to see the Hamtramck band “ The Rockin’ Levi’s” perform in the Church basement. They did tunes by The Beatles, and Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, and Elvis. Legend has it, that a few of the members later went on to form The Romantics. That’s all it took. Kris started guitar lessons soon afterward, and by age 12 was playing professionally with local bands at dances and parties in the Detroit metro area. At age 13 he began teaching guitar at the local music store. While in High School, and as a member of Student Congress, Kris booked yearly concerts in the new auditorium, with headliners like Bob Seger, and other well known Detroit Rock bands.
By the age of 15 Kris began playing in local nightclubs all over the East side of Detroit.
After High School, Kris decided to move to Las Vegas, as the family business made regular trips there throughout the year. While living in Vegas, Kris played with several lounge acts.
Kris returned to Detroit in 1976, and began a long career of playing the club circuit with several local bands, while also working as a Union Stagehand. He also began his career as an Audio Engineer in 1980, actually mixing events like the 1980 Republican Convention held in Detroit, and had the honor of running sound for several of Ronald Reagan’s events.
At age 28, he began his own Talent Booking Agency with close friend Tom Janssen, and booked some of Detroit’s top clubs, along with producing shows featuring the likes of Ricky Nelson, Sam and Dave, Martha Reeves, and many others.
1990 found Kris introducing Karaoke to the Detroit metro area. Going from knocking on club doors and booking the first Karaoke show in Detroit, to selling and installing 5 million dollars worth of Karaoke systems in 2 and a half years. It was at this time that Kris first met Kimbirly, and hired her as one of his top Karaoke hosts.
It was also at this time that Kris and Kimbirly worked together on the effort to re-establish the career of Doug Brown, a local R&B artist that had a hit record in the 80’s. Although that project never reached it’s full potential, the backup band “Big Time”, founded by Kris, went on to have a very successful 14 year run as one of the top 9 piece Show Bands in the Detroit area.
In 1994, Kris left Karaoke behind and became established as one of the Detroit area’s more successful Engineer /Producers. Working with local band RH Factor, he produced and guided the release of their local CD, garnering radio play on 63 stations across the Midwest, and selling several thousand CD’s. He also worked with local R&B vocalist Royce, establishing radio play and notoriety for his career.
After taking a few years off, Kris formed his latest band, “Bigger Jones”, in April of 2009, inviting Kimbirly to join as lead vocalist. Shortly afterwards, Kimbirly asked Kris to collaborate on the song “We The People”.
Currently, Kimbirly and Kris are working together on writing and recording new songs together as well as getting ready to perform “We The People” at events in the Detroit area.
On the personal side, Kris has two wonderful children, Jimi and Karissa, and a beautiful grand daughter Zoe. He looks forward to using his talents and music to help touch the world in a positive and inspirational way.
